Rooftops

• Always tie tie-off
• Always wear appropriate shoes
• Wear a tool belt to save from going up and down the ladder
• Never throw items to someone on the roof. Use the ladder.

Ladders

• Make sure base is steady
• For high places make sure a person is at the base to steady ladder
• Tree straps and hooks when necessary

Lights

• Look over all used lights to make sure they are in safe condition
• Never push electricity to its limits.
• Never use anything to hang/secure lights that could damage wires

Electricity

• Use only GFI outlets
• Make sure all products you install have UL listings.
• Never overload wires or breakers
• Never use indoor products outdoors
• Never run cords through water
• Always use a licensed electrical contractor for fixed installations and repairs.
• Do not take chances - there is no substitute for the wise and safe use of electricity.

Trees

• Use a ladder, stepladder or extension pole appropriate to the size of the trees you intend to decorate. DO NOT CLIMB THE BRANCHES, AND BE SURE TO HAVE SOMEONE HOLD THE LADDER FOR YOU.
• Watch for power lines while working in trees.

Wreaths

Cords / Connections

• Make sure all are in good condition
• Never put connections on the ground
• Use electrical tape, wax, or grease on all connections
• Use pre-manufactured extension cords instead of lamp cord when possible
• Use lamp cord for short distances only
• Use lamp cord for only 6 amps
• Never use indoor products outdoors
• Never run cords through water
• Never overload cords
• Fully unroll extension cords to avoid overheating
• Use extension cords long enough for the job. Never have tension on cords.
• Never put extension cords where they can be walked on frequently or run over by vehicles.
